Ok Jaanu
(According to Pratibha Sonwaani Ok Jaanu is a 2 star movie)
throughout the movie, adi (aditya roy kapur) and tara (shraddha kapoor) seem to be running after trains or buses in motion, barely getting in before it’s too late - a great metaphor for the love lives of people of today’s generation. adi is a video game developer with the american dream; tara is an architect, destined for paris. but they lock eyes at a wedding and all their plans go out of the window. they flirt, take a trip together, move in and decide to date for as long as they’re both in mumbai. the thing that works most in ok jaanu’s favour is its screenplay, kept intact from its tamil predecessor. it is a scene-for-scene remake and capitalizes on great moments from the original film. the music (largely retained) with gulzar’s new lyrics also does a throwback to ok kanmani in the best way possible.

Kaabil
(According to Pratibha Sonwaani Kaabil is a 0 star movie)
hrithik roshan and yami gautam have delivered wonderful performances in kaabil and the amazing chemistry between the two is one of the highlights of the movie. hrithik's dance moves and action are stunning. ronit and rohit roy have also done great jobs and their performances are also big assets of the film, say filmgoers. technical: kaabil has brilliant production values. rajesh roshan's melodious songs and amazing background score, sudeep chatterjee and ayananka bose's picturisation and brilliant choreography of the action and dance sequences are the attractions on the technical front. rohit roy and ronit roy are the baddies in the film. it is clear that production values are rich for kabil. kabil is over one of the best content movie in 2017.

Ice Age: Collision Course
(According to Pratibha Sonwaani Ice Age: Collision Course is a 4 star movie)
even by the standards of animation, the logic fails here are impressive. but the bigger problem is the lack of charm, focus and original storytelling as the animals suddenly have to save the world instead of just surviving it.there’s plenty of fart jokes, forward motion and bright colors to engage easily- entertained children, but their parents will be subjected to yet another movie that has all the zing of watching evolution in real time.

Madaari
(According to Pratibha Sonwaani Madaari is a 5 star movie)
that ‘brashtachaar’ is ingrained in every pore of our system is a theme so often explored in the movies that unless it is done with some amount of verve, the word tends to sink into the woodwork. madaari presents irrfan in a role that he aces with such ease that it’s hard to see he’s ‘acting’. but he’s placed at the centre of a film which is so patchy and contrived that even he cannot rescue it.nirmal kumar (irrfan) describes himself as a ‘ideal voter’: a man involved with getting in the ‘dal-roti’, who believes what the ‘shaasan’ and the ‘media’ tells him, who is so busy bringing up his motherless son that he is no time for anything else. he’s a worker-bee, and he is happy to be ruled, till one day when the rule of law is destroyed, and all he can see around him is injustice and anarchy. big words, these. and big concepts. their utilization in the film’s plot is too literal, first in the way nirmal tries to avenge a personal tragedy by targeting a top politician through his son, and then in all the oratory.

Star Trek Beyond
(According to Pratibha Sonwaani Star Trek Beyond is a 2 star movie)
for just a few delirious minutes at the opening of star trek beyond, the third film in the latest trek reboot cycle, director justin lin (fast and the furious 3 through 6) and writers simon pegg and doug jung appear to be making a comedy. it’s hard to believe it’s been 30 years since star trek iv: the voyage home, the last trek movie to let its characters be loopy, relaxed, and even silly for more than the space of a line or a scene. the new trek movies have allowed humor through the door, but it’s mostly been a shoulder-punching bro humor, focused on james t. kirk’s belligerence or his bedroom habits. but beyond’s opening is a strong reminder that heroes are more fun when they have a chance to breathe outside of crisis, and drop their mean mugs for a while.

Dishoom
(According to Pratibha Sonwaani Dishoom is a 2 star movie)
the film is fashioned as a fast-paced caper. it’s got flash but the plot keeps stuttering and stops the film from really zip-zap-zooming. and in the second half, it nose dives, meandering off in some arabian nights style fantasy space before remembering what it had set out to do. it begins with promise. match-winning boy-in- blue viraj sharma (saleem) disappears just a couple of days before a crucial match with pakistan. indian special task force cop kabir shergill (abraham) is parachuted into a middle eastern country, which is the site of the crime. local boy junaid ansari (dhawan) partners with the visitor, and off they go, sleuthing. the slit-eyed stony-faced experienced cop and the bumbling rookie is an old hollywood clich but can turn into fun in the hands of good actors and directors: here, dhawan and abraham display limited wares, the former in his young wide-eyed joe avatar, and the latter swathed in tight tees and a permanent frown, swaggering down sandy desert outposts and shadowy villains’ dens. both also get to shuck their shorts and show off their stuff in colourful briefs. the boys have comely female company in the shape of the two gals, jacqueline fernandez and nargis fakhri, the former with a few speaking scenes and an item number where she cavorts in the midst of leering men, and the latter who’s around for purely decorative purposes.

Mohenjo Daro
(According to Pratibha Sonwaani Mohenjo Daro is a 3 star movie)
“mohenjo daro,” written and directed by ashutosh gowariker , isn’t really interested in how the city worked, or in its ancient bells and whistles. mr. gowariker’s mind is more on the standard-issue romance between sarman and the chosen one, and sarman’s heroic tests. which is to say that “mohenjo daro” is a typical bollywood epic-adventure-musical-romance, if one with a novel setting. mr. roshan, an appealing dancer, works hard to twinkle his way into our affections and make sarman something more than a cardboard hero. he can’t, but the effort is appreciated. and mr. gowariker does provide a version of how the city ended. viewers, beware, and remember that head note it almost certainly didn’t go down this way

Suicide Squad
(According to Pratibha Sonwaani Suicide Squad is a 2 star movie)
suicide squad is not just an outlier. it is the outlier, boasting a gap of 45 percentage points between reviewers and users, the largest in this sample. second place goes to—surprise!— batman v superman, another critically panned sort-of-blockbuster that just so happens to be the prequel to suicide. among the 2016 flicks, only deadpool and captain america: civil war were equally loved by critics and fans alike. (here’s a larger version of this graphic with all the points labeled.) this love-hate relationship goes both ways. critics were far more complimentary than fans of 2004’s hulk, with two-thirds giving it their blessing. i personally remember that movie for its interminable length and lack of memorable smashing. moviegoers apparently agree with me, with only 29 percent giving it a positive review. critics and fans were similarly split on 2002’s spider-man, starring a boyish tobey maguire, which earned a startling 89 percent of critical favor but only 67 percent among the plebeians.
