the first half of the film scores high on the screenplay as it seamlessly shifts from one character’s story to the other, taking us through punjab’s gorgeous houses and fields. the second half, however, loses its focus, like most hindi films, and starts addressing love stories. on one hand, it’s heartwarming to see human connections that can happen at most unlikely places but alas the film derails from what it set me up for. the ending of the film also feels a bit abrupt. but how else could a film end when the battle against drugs is still on?i think we all must watch udta punjab and educate ourselves.

in any case, ms. farmiga and mr. wilson again sell their characters pretty well, and a youngster named madison wolfe makes quite an impression as janet, the child who absorbs the brunt of the poltergeist’s abuse. skip this film if you can’t suspend disbelief it’s entertainment, not a documentary, and though the characters of course discuss whether the haunting is real, that’s not what the director, james wan, is interested in. he wants to scare and unsettle you.

randeep hooda’s ability to hold your attention in a film one can easily give up on. he is the only amazing thing in this film.a tepid script makes this love story nearly unwatchable. it is difficult not to doze off in this film.the two fall in love and suraj soon realises that his dark past is connected with jenny in a manner that he never imagined. guilt-ridden suraj decides to get jenny operated so that she can regain her eyesight.

let’s start with the story of the film, ronny (tiger) and sia (shraddha) meet on a train and they quickly get attracted towards each other. so, it is a love at first sight, then you find them keep bumping over each other time when you see raining. soon love blossoms from both the ends, however, there is an issue to this love, gangsters have fallen in love with this lady sia. ronny who has come down for training and is in love with the lady is kidnapped and kept in hostage in a multistoried building wherein he has kept different set of people in different floors. these include the fighters, the martial artists and so on, who are there to stop ronny to reach sia. however, with his fierce and incredible fights, he reaches out till we see the body counts going on. so, what happens at the end, how tiger saves his love from this fierce and robust kind of one side lover is interesting to explore.

randeep is the only one holding forte. he plays the brooding, elusive, sinister shankar with elan. in the romantic scenes, he is effectively charming. at one point when he flashes a shy, dimpled smile at his girlfriend, you can't miss that he has all the makings of rustic romantic hero. alas, the moment passes too quickly. his co-actor akshay oberoi is affable and the two share a warm on-screen camaraderie, but their act cannot cover up for the glitches in the plot.

the quintessential domestic help in nil batte sanata tiwari goes deep into the narrow lanes where domestic help chanda and her daughter live. she follows chanda as she hurries from one job to the other, sorting spices, packing shoes and cooking other people’s meals for a living. her daughter apeksha is a headstrong teenager who stumbles her way through school and would much rather watch a bollywood movie than study mathematics, the bane of her existence.

the script (written by sharma) and screenplay (by habib faisal) do show streaks of intelligence and originality once in awhile. but the script also throws up quite a few inconsistencies and impossible-to-believe sequences. if gaurav can so easily fool the world, what is aryan's clout we are talking about? if gaurav can easily impersonate aryan, why does he go unrecognised otherwise? but then all's soon forgiven when you are kept enthralled by the thrilling chase sequences and that unexpected climax.
