the film starts off with a day in the life of the delhi based piku (deepika padukone), whose world revolves around her architectural office, her colleague sayyed afroze (jishu sengupta) and her ever-so-doting father bhaskhor banerjee (amitabh bachchan). life is absolutely monotonous for her. while her day starts off with her office and ends with her ever-worried-about-constipation father bhaskhor. despite all her efforts to brainwash him off the same, he refuses to budge. that's why she compromises with the existing situation, which also means that she has to cancel a lunch date in order to attend to her 'mentally constipated' father's constant sos. just when life is moving in a monotonous manner for the banerjee family, a sudden decision to travel to kolkata springs up. because bhaskhor rules out the possibility of travelling by air or train citing his constipated problems, the family decides to go on a road trip to kolkata.

the film starts with the introduction of pravin patel aka pp (ram kapoor), his family and the girl of his dreams shanaya (sunny leone), who is a bollywood actress. pp's family consists of his 'religiously religious' wife kokila aka 'krokodile' (suchita trivedi) and his son jigar aka 'jigolo' (navdeep chabra), who is an aspiring rockstar who are happily settled in malaysia. however, they are totally unaware of pp's 'feelings' towards shanaya. on the other hand pp's love for shanaya becomes an obsession so much so that he has a secret 'worship chamber' of hers in his video shop! pp's luck hits a goldmine when he gets chosen as a winner in a contest whose bumper prize is a 'date with shanaya'. amidst the 'date', shanaya, impressed with pp's gujarati mannerisms, offers to stay with him as a part of her homework for the dream role of a gujarati girl in her forthcoming film with a well-known director. pp, who just cannot believe his luck, lands up lying to her that he is unmarried and stays with his parents. on the other hand, pp sends his wife to india after making a fake call about his wife's mother's ill health. when shanaya tells him that she would like to spend time in a close knit family, pp saves his skin and the situation yet again by convincing his rock star son to become his father and his son's girlfriend naina (evelyn sharma) to become his mother! does pp manage to pull off the 'child is father of the man' act flawlessly before shanaya, does kokila eturn to malaysia and get to see the real face of her scheming husband, does pp ever gather the guts to propose to shanaya and convince her marry him and does shanaya ever get to know the real truth behind pp and his 'mysterious' family, is what forms the rest of the story of this comedy film.

the 'invisible man' concept has been done in bollywood quite a few times before. films like vijay bhatt's mr. x, kishore kumar starrer mr. x in bombay, tusshar kapoor starrer gaayab and the shekhar kapoor directed cult film mr. india have been some of the films done in the past. this week's release is vikram bhatt's mr. x, a film that's again based on the 'invisible man'. will this film make its 'presence felt' at the box-office or will it do the disappearing act, let's analyze. the film starts off with anti terrorist department's (atd) inspector raghu (emraan hashmi) in action along with his colleague cum fiancã©e siya varma (amyra dastur), saving a bus full of passengers that's about to be blasted by a human bomb. post the incident, when raghu and siya are about to get married, raghu is sent on a mission of the chief minister's safety by his superior bharadwaj (arunodaya singh). the situation takes a u-turn when raghu gets to know that he is basically being used as a pawn in order to kill the minister. and when raghu refuses to be a part of this plan, he gets threatened with siya's life. left with no option, raghu lands up shooting the minister in front of the full media. when he manages to escape, he gets caught by bharadwaj and his men, who beat him mercilessly and leave him to die. suddenly, a 'divine intervention' takes place and raghu springs back to life but in a very distorted state. that's when his friend popo (tanmay bhatt) takes him to his scientist sister, who treats him with an 'experimental potion'.
